This book actually contains five stories of women linked by the lineage of Christ. Beginning with Tamar, the author takes scripture then weaves an embellished version of her life that is historically believable. This type of retelling continues with the story of Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Though we know there are liberties taken by the author outside of what we know scripturally, I believe the author stayed true to the essence of these women's stories, giving us the opportunity to picture and appreciate their circumstances and choices.
I would recommend this book to anyone who might appreciate the fictional narrative of the women who would've influenced the earthly heritage of Jesus.
